Small Intestine
Duodenum, Jejunum, Ileum
The duodenum is the first of three sections of the small intestine, and is a U-shaped region connecting the pylorus of the stomach and the jejunum.
The jejunum is the middle section of the small intestine and the ileum is the final section which connects to the large intestine at the cecum. To find the small intestines and its parts, cut into the abdominal cavity. The big chunk of lighter colored, collapsed tubes is what you are looking for. The darker, wider tubes make up the colon. *Audio description* |
Mesentery
Mesentery Proper The mesenteries are what connect the intestines to the body wall. Although the intestines may look like they're going to fall out, they won't because of the mesenteries.
To find them, as seen in the video, open the abdominal cavity and look deep to the small intestine. The whitish, clear connective tissue that connects the small intestine to the body wall is the mesentery proper. |
